Can you work while getting VA disability benefits?
In general, most veterans can still work while getting VA disability.
In order to receive TDIU benefits (Total Disability based on Individual Unemployability), you can minimally work and keep your benefits. But you can’t earn over a certain amount (called substantial gainful employment).
If you have 100% schedular rating you can work and still get benefits, with no limit on your earnings.
TDIU benefits and 100% schedular pay at the same level. So, if you can and want to work, it’s to your advantage to get a 100% schedular rating rather than TDIU.
